The Human Services Leadership Council of CNY (HSLC) is a membership organization of human services nonprofits in the greater Syracuse and Central New York region. The HSLC convenes and connects human services nonprofits with one another and with organizations in our community to strengthen the collective capacity of human services nonprofits to serve the community. The HSLC advocates for the shared needs of the human services sector.
The HSLC currently has a membership of over 80 human services agencies. These member agencies deliver a broad range of services to people in Syracuse, Onondaga County, and throughout Central New York. Member agencies are diverse in mission and range in size from very large organizations to small, grass-roots organizations, as well as local chapters of national organizations.
The HSLC offers an array of benefits to its members. Members consistently tell us that the most significant benefit of the HSLC is networking – through the HSLC’s bi-monthly member meetings, which build productive, collaborative relationships among agencies. The HSLC also has Committees and Affinity Groups. The Affinity Groups – Human Resources and Finance – offer opportunities for agency staff to network and exchange best practices and engage in collaborative problem solving on common challenges. Committees offer opportunities for members to participate in collaborative, capacity building work in Advocacy; Workforce Development (including best practices in recruiting and retaining talent) and DEIB ( Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging) & Anti-Racism.
The mission of the Human Services Leadership Council of CNY (HSLC) is to improve the lives of the recipients of services in Central New York by facilitating growth in the skills, knowledge, capacity and coordinated efforts of the not-for-profit agencies who serve them.
